Walgreens Complaint - H1N1 immunizations at Walgreens
I was excited to learn that local Walgreens would be administering H1N1 immunizations for $18. So I bundled up my two kids, ages 4 and 7, and visited the store at 17th and Santa Clara in San Jose. The Registered Pharmacist on duty informed me politely but firmly that Walgreens doesn’t administer vaccinations to children younger than 9. Of course, this disappointed me greatly. I was happy to get MY vaccination, and the nurse administered it so professionally that I literally did not feel a thing, but I was really unhappy to be unable to get my children the same protection from this potentially deadly disease.
This Walgreens policy seems misguided to me, since kids in that age group are known to suffer more serious effects from H1N1 than the general population. At a minimum, they should post this policy prominently on their ads and in their stores, so other parents aren't equally disappointed.
