A & E Factory Service Complaint - Don't use A & E Factory Service!
CHICAGO, ILLINOIS -- My husband and I own a two flat in Chicago and provide laundry to our tenants. Returning home from the holidays we found that our washer was no longer working. Frustrated and in need of it to be fixed immediately I called Whirlpool's customer service line. On a side note Whirlpool doesn't even give you the option to talk to a human being, rather you are shuffled through an automated process and they schedule a service appointment for you with an outside agency.
The agency happen to be A&E Factory Service. I called them because Whirlpool gave me no information regarding price. A&E said they charged $129 to come out and that included any labor, but parts were additional. They said they would be here between 1-5pm. Its was 8pm when the guy finally showed up. He listened to the washer for two seconds and said it would be $500 to fix it!! This didn't make any sense considering a brand new washer would only cost $700.
Not only did this A&E repair guy come and do nothing for $129, but he wanted to charge us $500 for parts.
Do not use A&E factory service. And shame on Whirlpool for using them as their direct service providers.
