Other World Computing Compliment - Very fast shipping and good prices

Review by PepperElf on 2010-01-07
WOODSTOCK, ILLINOIS -- A few months the power supply on my Mac broke and I ordered a replacement from some cheap company I found on Amazon.

That replacement was a higher wattage than my original but it worked... until the outer shielding on the cable popped. Before long, the outer-copper wires surrounding the inner insulation broke and my computer died right as I was working on final projects.

Thankfully I was able to kinda rescue it with some tin foil to replace the shielding. Cheap fix, and as long as it worked - and wasn't too frustrating it would be OK.

Last Sunday the frustration factor was too much and I started looking for a new power supply online.

My boyfriend recommended OWC - Other World Computing - since he'd gotten some nice stuff from them before and I checked them out...

One of the first things that got my attention was this... OWC was selling authentic mac products. And the power supply I'd gotten from the other company wasn't really authentic mac - just a replica.

So I decided to try OWC's product cos, even refurbished, it's an official mac product and is bound to work better than a knockoff.

Then I checked the shipping prices - I was surprised that USPS shipping (first class) was an option and was only $1.99 - sweet. So I put in my order.

It came in the mail yesterday.

so now my computer is happy again and I'm not having to re-apply tin foil to a a power-cord's ground shielding constantly.

so I'm very happy
and will probably keep owc in mind for future accessory purchases.

(oh yeah prices, it was about... oh.. $39 + tax & s/h. more than what i'd paid for the crappy one from the other company but hey i'm not complaining that's a good deal in my opinion) =)
what I ordered: 60W apple adaptor refurbished. =)

Nice compliment Pepper. When you received the request from the company to post your review to their website, did they offer you a free backup just in case? LOL

lol no. but that's ok

i still have the crappy one the other company sold me and i'll keep that as a backup. (well with some tin foil)

but the one OWC sold me is an official Mac product and not a knockoff
so i'm sure it'll last a lot longer =)
