Guardsman Furniture Insurance Complaint - Feels like Insurance Fraud to me!

Review by hillsy on 2010-01-08
I purchased insurance for couches and chair, and boys bedroom furniture. The insurance cost me $300. This was less than 2 years ago. I filed a claim (a lengthy process invovling plenty of paper work and a long wait for a call back...approximately 1 month) for a rip that occurred when the pull down arm rest/table hardware came off and caused a rip, also a small hole in other couch.

I was denied service, they told me it is not covered, only accidents. Do they think this is something we did on purpose? The lady I spoke with told me it was how I filled paperwork out. I am outraged to have spent the $300 for nothing. They did not even ask to see photos or have someone come and look. I will never purchase another GUARDSMAN realted item again!
AN ABSOLUTE WASTE OF MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On a happy note the manager where I purchased the furniture is having her company fix/replace items. She informed me they no longer deal with Guardsman policy. I am pleased they are repairing this time, but I bought the plan for more than a one time fix!

A lesson learned...do read the small print
