Dicks Sporting Goods, Inc. Complaint - Poor Service
CUYAHOGA FALLS -- I went into the Cuyahoga Falls, OH Store last fall to purchase running shoes for my son. I had to interrupt two sales people chatting to get service. Neither was particulary interested. Since it was my first experience in buying shoes for cross country running, I asked for a recommendation on what type of shoe to purchase. They both just sort of stared at me. I asked about a particular brand that my son's coach had recommended, and was told that they could only be purchased by special order and they didn't do it. I finally gave up and left. On my way out I asked to speak with the manager. I was told that the manager wasn't in but they would pass on my complaint! I didn't learn my lesson! I subjected myself to the same punishment today August 7, 2001. After shopping for Soccer shoes for my daughter at several different stores I decided to try Dicks again. Upon entering the store there was a large display of soccer shoes and a sign for a soccer special for $39.98 you could purchase, a Nike Shoe, a soccer ball, shin guards and soccer socks. I browsed the display and could not located my daughters size. I proceeded to the back of the store to locate a salesperson. I looked at the other soccer shoes on display. There must have been fifteen different shoes to choose from! I walked toward the only salesperson on the floor. She was bringing a gentleman a shoe to try on so I waited next to him for her to finish. She handed him the shoe and let him take it out to try on. She stayed with him a few minutes then walked away to help another gentleman. He asked her a quick question and she came back to check on the first gentleman. I waited for her to finish. She glanced at the first gentleman, looked over my head and asked another gentleman if she could help him. When he said no, I just approached her and asked her if she could check to see if she had the Nike soccer shoe that was included in the package in a size 2 1/2. She told me that they were all out front. I then asked her if she could see if she had any other soccer shoe in a 2 1/2, she told me that they didn't have any soccer shoes in the back they were all out front. All the Nikes, Adidas and any other brands. I thanked her and began to search for all the soccer shoes. I could find nothing in the store but the display in the front of the store, so I approached a young lady standing at the end of a register and repeated my conversation with the young lady in the back. She told me 'If she said they were all out then there all out' I asked her if she could point me in the direction of where I might find them; She looked over me glancing from left to right and said I don't know! Needless to say I left again. This is two different times that I have received this type of service. I am the mother of four children who run cross country and track, play baseball, football, and soccer. I spend a great deal of money each year buying shoes and sports equipment and I can't get anyone at your store to take it from me!
At the very least I would like a response from your company regarding this incident. Thank you for your time.
