Home Depot Complaint - Home Depot did not Honor carpet satisfaction guarantee
Resolution Update on 02/06/2010:
Please read my previous comments. Home Depot replaced our StainMaster carpet when that company refused to. We are so pleased that Home Depot stepped up and resolved this issue, when it really wasn't their problem. They kept a customer! We have shared our story with family, friends and anyone else interested in purchasing carpet from Home Depot. We have also shared how Stain Master does not stand behind their product.
We purchased StainMaster carpet for our vacation condo from Home Depot. We immediately noticed that anything spilled on the carpet did not 'bead up'; so it could be blotted up and cleaned like previously purchased carpet does. Spills instantly soaked into the carpet fiber and backing and could not be cleaned using common household cleaner. Home Depot sent out a professional carpet cleaner who said the carpet was defective. He stated there appeared to be very little if any stain protectant applied to the carpet fibers. He wrote a letter to that effect to Home Depot.
Bottom line: Since StainMaster and the mill deny there is a problem, we are stuck with carpet that is very obviously defective. Even though Home Depot said they 'understood' the problem, there was nothing they could do about it. Just beware that all those signs saying 100% customer satisfaction just are not true!... at least not in regards to carpet.
