Costco, San Diego Informative - No gloves worn in bakery dept.?
SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA -- I noticed a woman handling the freshly baked muffins, removing them one by on without gloves or tools. She was handling the muffins with her open palm??? Another lady had gloves outside the baking area(she was out in the customer area; so I asked her, "why that woman didn't wear gloves?" and her reply was that she didn't have to??
I asked the ass't store manager about this and he said that San Diego(or Cal.)law lets bakery food handlers not have to wear latex gloves! That they only had to wash their hands thoroughly? I noticed the same practice at their other store in the bakery too in mission valley!
I don't know about other consumers in San Diego but I for one found people preparing and baking(cooking)foods and not wearing gloves or masks...not too healthy... Whats your 2c worth??( P.S. Costco has all the free sample-tasting employees wear gloves as well as most of the meat area employees.)And I want to add, I like Costco and think their employees work hard and are very helpful...I just wondered about this 'no glove policy?' and the law that supports it here in San Diego??
