Centennial Wireless Complaint - Hiding behind fineprint - 19.99 UNLIMITED AIRCARD

19.99 UNLIMITED AIRCARD - Complaint
Review by centwire~c.a. on 2010-01-11
FT. WAYNE -- Singed up for a 19.99 UNLIMITED AIRCARD PLAN at Centennial Wirelss Corporate store in GlenbrookMall in Ft. Wayne, IN in April of 2009.
Unlimited? Not quite. That was apparently just a tactic used...was told by salesman that his manager was pushing them to sell the 19.99 plan as Unlimited. I said, sounds like a great deal...put it in writing and I'll go for it. he did, and I've been charged overages every month since!!! When contacting store manager, she said basically, "too bad...the companies PRESIDENT didn't make the deal and sign the contract, so therefore we don't have to honor it..." basically like HA, HA...jokes on you! We at Centennial can just do WHATEVER we feel like to the consumer, deceive, mislead, whatever we want to, and if someone catches us at it, we can hide behind fine print 'cause our president didn't sign it". Tough tooties! She did ever-so-kindly offer to 'let me out' of the contract...??? Very convenient as there would be NO consequences for their shoddy prcatices. I don't plan to let THEM out of it and hope to get a class-action started with it. Anyone had the same or similar experiences at Glenbrook mall store around that time?

What sort of outrageous charges have been happening? When the salesperson put it in writing, did you actually read the writing before agreeing to whatever it is you thought you were receiving?
I just looked up Centennial Wireless, seems they're merging with AT&T.

Class action suits are worthless. Got an email about a proposed settlement for a suit against 800-Flowers. The class members (of which I'm aparently one, or so the lawsuit says), get a fantatic $10 off of an order (which, I might point out, you can also get with the coupon from the Entertainment book, or the coupon out of many Sunday papers).

The lawyers, on the other hand, walk away with $400K.

I was an involuntary and unaware party to a class action suit against the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority which resulted in a $26 credit to my pike pass account. It was like pennies from heaven.

Anyway, class action lawsuits aren't about enriching the plaintiffs or recouping actual plaintiff damages. It's about levying stiff penalties onto the defendant in order to change behavior and of course making lawyers rich.

Mostly the rich lawyers thing.

Did you ever read Grisham's "King of Torts." Really scary how accurate it is.
