Acer Computers Complaint - Do Not Buy Acer
I purchase a Acer a110 netbook March 09. My operating system stopped working. First time I called Acer tech support, the lady told me she had a bad connection and I need to call back, then she hung up. Next attempt, the tech told me my warranty expired, the records show the computer was purchased in 2008. That was probably when the reseller received it, so he told me I had to fax over the receipt from JR music world, I told him I had no fax, could I email, he said they can not receive emails? Very troubling, and made me go out of my way to fax when it shouldn't have been necessary to begin with. Then, I did an online chat with a tech, who accepted my word about the purchase date of the computer and registered me with Acer. After explaining the problem, he told me to follow a link to restore my operating system, he said it would take about an hour and I would not need an external cd rom drive ot do it. I let him go.
It turns out the link had nothing to do with my netbook, and told me I had to use a recovery disc and an external cd drive to load it onto my netbook, of which I had neither. I went back to tech chat with my case number and the new tech said I should have received a recovery disc with my netbook. I told him I did not. Then he told me I have to purchase one for 20!!! and I would have to buy an external cd drive to load it!!! He said sorry for the inconvenience!!! What kind of warranty is that!!! My friend purchase a net book and she did not get a recovery disc either by the way.
I have since spent 300 dollars buying a netbook from Asus rather than deal with Acer again.
