Reliant Energy, Inc. Complaint - No way to win!
PO BOX 650475 DALLAS, TEXAS -- My wife and I are going thru tough times being both unemployed and struggling since moving to Fort Worth from Louisiana. We thought we'd make a new start. During the hot summer months our electric bills were over $400 a month in a 1600 sq. ft home. We soon realized that our thermostat was wired incorrectly and ran continously while we were away for the holidays. Now it's fixed and since then we try doing everything we can to lower our consumption. My wife has been ill but even so, throughout all December and January, the thermostat stays set on 60 to 65 degrees F. We try our best to turn lights off and rarely cook or wash and dry clothes-maybe once a week. We've done all we can do and more to minimize kwh usage so I expected today's bill, 1/14/10, to show improvement. Instead, and I'm trying not to lose my cool--my bill is $567.00. I'm completely blown away!! I called Reliant and they insist my meter reads correctly..I just don't understand. I've since switched my provider and will gladly try to pay the $150.00 cancellation fee --not included in bill. Just don't know what to do about the rest. The representative stated that just in the last seven days we've used over a thousand kw hours..I just don't see how it's possible. You just can't win, I guess; or even come close...HELP!!!
