G E Money Complaint - Creditcard/Loan Stinks!

Review by gemoneystinks! on 2010-01-15
EL PASO, TEXAS -- If you are ever offered an interest free loan from GE Money..RUN... don't walk away from it. They do not send the payment coupon on time so you can return it by the payment date, thus insuring that they can charge outrageous interest amounts. They will not talk to me since my husbands name is on the account even thought he has told them twice that they should. We asked that the form be sent out so he could send it in so they could talk to me and that hasn't been done. Today is the 15Th and my payment is due on the 30Th and still no bill.

Also I was told we could use our other credit cards to pay off this loan and when I called in to do that they said I couldn't. Again, almost resulting in a late fee[I had to rush a check into them to avoid the fee].

We had no idea our furnace installer was going to set us up with such as shady bunch or we would have just made the payment on our own charge and gotten the miles!

Dealing with these people makes me feel like I need a bath....I am ready to let the State Attorney General know about these questionable practices.

My advise it to NEVER DEAL WITH G E MONEY! We have an excellent credit rating and do not appreciate them fooling around with it.

Also, the customer service people will not listen to you at all, they talk down to you as if you were an idiot and then hang up on you. I have tried to take their survey twice, but they made sure I couldn't by not connecting me to it.

If you requested a form to authorize them speaking to you, they should definately send that out. Or you could send a signed letter (by your husband) to them where he gives authorization to speak to them.

I've heard of enough incidences like this from people who had this bank's Amazon card to make me stay far away from any offers they send.

Are these the same folks who do the card for people with high vet bills?

I have a small balance on a GE money bank card, only because the retailer offered 0% interest if paid off within a few months. I always receive my payment notice at least 3 weeks prior, and have never not received one. Perhaps the problem is with your local mail delivery.

Goduke, on the money. Our vet, and we understand, several others here in Washington no longer deal with Care Credit, which is GE Money Bank. Also, if you have a WalMart card, that is also a GE Money BankWe have a member here who is apparently doing something about it, and I am waiting for him to contact me so I can send him redacted copies of our statements that each have a different interest rate, including one which shows 52%, and that is not a typo.

Ah. That pulls everything into focus, doesn't it. Yeah...they're scumbags. Moreso than the other credit card companies. Not sure if they are dishonest, or inept, or some combination of the two.

I've been paying on this card, even though there are no payments and no interest due until this May, but after reading these comments, I am going to pay it off immediately. I don't want them to do something in May that will cost me interest over the last 18 months.

Yes pay bills from your own Bank's bill pay. Don't use Credit Card's bill pay.
