Overstock.com Complaint - Where is my return? - Jewelry

Jewelry - Complaint
Review by Realrep on 2010-01-15
I ordered a pair of earrings from overstock.com on December 28, 2009. They arrived but were not what I expected. I returned them via my local post office on January 4th, 2009. I insured the package but did not ask for tracking or confirmation of delivery, my fault! I would have used their method of return via UPS but I do not have a drop off station near my home. I have been checking daily to see the status of my return but it is still listed as "open". Their web-site says to wait 4 weeks to receive a credit. REALLY? They took my money in 5 seconds but I have to wait 4 weeks for a credit! CMON! Anyway, I called today and spoke with a young girl in customer service who was not real interested in helping me. I think I woke her up from a nap. She told me to wait another week to see if my package arrives to their facility. Another week? I sent the return in its original packaging and wrote the return number on the outside as instructed. I shipped it Zone 7, First Class. The customer service agent also told me to go back to my post office and see if they can track it. At one point she also put me on hold to call the jewelry dept. but when she got back on the line she didn't indicate that they had any answers either. I told her that when I have ordered in the past and returned an item it was done in a timely fashion. She said she could see that in my history but she offered no other help. We are talking a $266.00 credit. I am going to stop by the post office tomorrow but I doubt they can help. I am, however, not waiting another week. I will call back on Monday and speak with a supervisor. Ridiculous that they took my money and now want to blow me off regarding my return. Bad customer service! I will keep you posted.

it could actually be the post office's fault so i would say that before you go off on a supervisor, check with the post office to make sure you've covered everything on your end.

This one has me scratching my head. How can a package be insured if it isn't tracked. I would think (but I could be wrong) that the post office would track insured packages to avoid paying on claims by being able to prove that it was delivered and signed for. Take the receipt to the post office. There may be a way that they can check on the status. Couldn't hurt to try.

With the USPS, the insured package does not have tracking that the customer can track, BUT the insurance number CAN be tracked by the clerk. It gets scanned during transit.

Insurance with the USPS only pays out after 30 days, but you can file a lost package claim at 21 days. And of course you won't get a credit until the company receives the jewelry back.

Ahh! Good info to know, Lady.

Pro, as a former Ebay seller for 10 years, you learn all the ins and outs of the USPS, UPS, FedEx, DHL, transit times, customs and insurance lol.

Oh, and the OP can not be paid twice. So if the package is lost, the OP can NOT get a check from the USPS and a credit for the jewelry from OS.
