TaxAct.com Compliment - A fast, secure and easy way to do your taxes online

Review by madconsumer on 2010-01-16
I have used this website for several years, as well have made a positive review in the past.

Once again we are in 'that time of year'. Just yesterday I was watching the telley, and saw a commercial for a well know tax preparation company. The one with initials in the title. Their so called 1040ez e-file cost $29.95, or about. The worst part of this offer is, with TaxACT.com 1040ez e-file s completely FREE!! for those of use who use deductions, federal 1040 e-file is $9.95, state returns are extra. Fortunately, I live in a state with no state income tax.

TaxACT.com uses a Q&A format, making it easy for anyone who has no experience with tax preparation. You must have all your w-2's, mortgage interest payment info, and so on. TaxACT.com uses a check system to search for errors and other issues that can raise flags to the irs. Their website is completely secure, fast performance, and best of all easy.

Give TaxACT.com a try. You too will find it easy to e-file.

I concur. I have used TaxAct since filing for 2006 (switched from Turbo Tax) Easy to use, helps me find deductions, and FAST.

Yup. And their system doesn't even flinch at all my W-2, 1099 and various other forms! Good for when I was 100% self employed.

I'm a big fan of TaxAct as well. Been using it for many years. I first used it when it was just PC software, and then I migrated to their online version and have been using that ever since. Works great and is pretty cheap.

I cant wait to get my W-2 so that I could start doing taxes immediately at TaxAct.com!

Does your company participate in a program like SeeMyW2? Check with your HR department. You can download a copy of your W-2 and start working on your taxes while you wait for the "real" one to arrive.

****It is important to note you can NOT include this copy when mailing your taxes in. You must have an original for that. However, many e-file programs can access and include your W-2 through a variety of programs.

for 2009 tax year, it is to late to get an electronic w-2. as well, if one is using electronic w-2, they will not receive a hard copy in the mail. all electronic w-2 services allow the user to print a hard copy. this is considered an original for tax purposes, including mail in tax forms.

Hmmm, mad, the info on ceridians SeeMyW2 site says the exact opposite. My law firm offers both options. The hard copies will be mailed Tuesday. However, we could review the electronic copies beginning 1/15

I have been using TaxAct since 2006 as well and this year purchased the TaxAct for professionals. Gotta tell you, it's pretty slick. Can't wait till the season is over though. I've already had enough complaints about not being able to e-file the $8,000 House credit.

I love TaxAct, especially when I don't have to pay exorbitant fees to have my taxes done. I don't' mind waiting 8-10 days for my return and it is DD'd into my account. I can understand someone facing repo or foreclosure, eviction, starvation, kids going naked or some unforeseeable crisis but for me, all I have is one W-2 and time.
