Ikea Complaint - Their shipping is VERY unreasonable!
[this is a copy/paste of what I wrote in an email to IKEA]
After speaking with THREE of your employees at your 800 number and receiving NO HELP with shipping options, I must now CANCEL my order (see order number below).
Yesterday I drove 45 minutes to the IKEA store in Stoughton, MA and spent $160 dollars on an entertainment center. The UPPLEVA ORMO Wall bracket for flat screen TV's that I wanted to buy was not in stock. A customer service person said that it would be in the next day. I decided to save my time and place an e-commerce order and have it shipped to me. Last night I place the order and this morning I received an email with a phone number to call (very strange way of placing an e-commerece order by the way, but that's not the purpose of my email). I called the number and they verified that the shipping cost was going to be $19.36....period!! No IF's AND's or BUT's!!!
After speaking to the woman who first answered my call, I asked to speak to her supervisor because she didn't seem to be able to help me. Then the second person (her supervisor) didn't seem to be able to help me either, so I asked to speak with HER supervisor. Same result. No help. Although the third woman did say she checked the status of that product and said it would not be available in the stores for another TWO WEEKS! All three customer sales reps said the same thing....that's what the shipping is sir, or you can go back to a store. Gee, I guess it's a good thing I didn't go back to the store the next day, huh.
Well, you have all your people trained well, they all say the same thing. I can not believe that is the ONLY shipping option you offer! I thought IKEA was a good company, now I know different! I can't say I'll be shopping at IKEA anytime soon, if ever again.
Oh, by the way....I found the same product for $15.00 + $8.00 shipping from a company on ebay. Needless to say, you lost a sale, not to mention a customer!
