Medco Complaint - Medco - Oh No Loser Customer Service
My doctor faxed in a prescription for Armour thyroid to Medco on a Wednesday (my employer recently switched to Medco from Express Scripts (I already miss Express Scripts!!!).
On Friday I had a phone message that my prescription had been rejected and I would receive a letter. I called Medco to find out why and the representative told me it was because I need prior authorization and she would fax the form to my doctor. It didn't make much sense that anyone would need prior authorization for thyroid medicine but the representative said it was just the way "my plan" was written. I called Medco again the following Tuesday to make sure they had gotten the preauthorization form back and they said they had no history on my account of the Thyroid order or that a preauthorization was needed. Only that a preauthorization was needed for zolpiderm which was a prescription ordered by my husband on his account, not mine. I said are you sure you are looking at the right account? I have an account thru a separate employer I am primary on....husband has his own account thru his own employer (we are both being forced to use medco, unfortunately). They finally transferred me to member services and after 40 minutes on the phone total, they told me they could not obtain Armour thyroid. When I asked how they could mix my medicines up with my husbands meds and his account they told me they could hardly hear me and there was static on the line and hung up on me!
My good doctor faxed my thyroid prescription into a local compounding pharmacy and I will get it that way.
