Chicken of the Sea Complaint - Crabmeat - Chicken of The Sea - White Crab

Chicken of The Sea - White Crab - Complaint
Review by Bad Crabmeat on 2010-01-21
I purchased a can of Chicken of The Sea White Crab and upon opening the can, I stared at its content and couldn't believe what I saw. It looked like white oatmeal or farina cereal!! I then tried some with a fork - no taste. Then I heated it in a fry pan with melted butter - still no taste. Once passed the crunch of the bits of shell in the crab, I was hard pressed to decide whether to keep eating it or dispose of it.

I strongly suggest Chicken of The Sea cancel their Vietnam contract and discontinue this product. Just a thought -

I suggest you remember that a crab has a shell and is not a flaked meat. Was it REAL crab or imitation crab meat? Buy another can if you want crab meat or stick to the real deal.

Crab meat in a can? Ewwww.

I don't think there is any crabmeat in a can that I would eat straight out of the can. I buy is occassionally for a seafood dip and no matter what brand, you need to pick the shells out. If you want decent crab meat it isn't going to come out of can. You get what you pay for.

I have not seen crab in a can. My wife is allergic to shellfish, and I saw firsthand what happened when she was splashed with room temperature crab juice. If I want crab for salads or something, I get the krabmeat artificial crab.

Star, you can get minced Clam in the can and while it tastes awful it is much better tasting than eating SOAP (imitation KRAB). Yuck!
My Sister and oldest Daughter are allergic to shellfish as well.

ZZ, I can sympathize. That crab juice landed on her arm when I broke the shell, and it looked like someone had poured battery acid on her. Large red welts popped up wherever the juice hit her. We live in Washington now, and crab is very available, when we can afford it.

Lucky you Star, for living in Washington. Still a delicasy for me in Colorado.
My Daughter was like 5 or 6 when we were eating Shrimp. She started rubbing her eyes and the next thing we knew, her face was "beet red!"
Scary!

Starlord, I have a friend allergic to shellfish and it wasn't a pretty sight to witness when she had a reaction her first time after so many years of enjoying it.

I don't remember seeing crabmeat in a can because I've not looked for it, but have bought shrimp in a can for a shrimp mold. Some substitute the crabmeat with what appears to be the same recipe. I have had crab cakes and I expect that calls for the canned as well.

This is a decent brand.
