Vista BMW of Coconut Creek, FL Complaint - Beware of Vista BMW Service

Review by maximumbob52 on 2010-01-25
COCONUT CREEK, FLORIDA -- I purchased a Certified Pre-Owned 545i and also purchased the extended warranty from Vista BMW. My car just had the catalytic converter go out, and so I made an appointment with Jay to have it serviced. Jay is OK to work with, but imagine my surprise when I went outside to pick up my loaner vehicle and was directed to a Volkswagen. (????). I refused the car, went back inside to speak with Jay, and was informed since I was over the original 50,000 mile warranty, then I would then be a second-class customer and given a VW. I did not purchase a VW, so why would you expect me to drive a loaner VW. Even though I purchased the extended warranty from Vista, it did not matter. Jay says, "You are guaranteed a loaner, not what kind of car it might be." This is total BS, and the dealer is disingenuous, at best. To make matters worse, I was hoping to drive a relatively new 5-series, as I'd like to trade this one in, and get a new one. Now, what do you think the chances are that I will ever purchase another vehicle from Vista BMW? Zero, zero, and zero.

This is a classic bait and switch, and totally unacceptable. My wife drives a Lexus, and they treat her like a queen, even though she now has 100,000 miles on her RX 330. If only Lexus had a performance vehicle like the 545, I'd do it in a heartbeat. This is just totally unacceptable, considering the $62,000 I paid for the car. Just disgusting service. Be warned, or take the consequences.

What does it state in your warranty? Does it in fact state what kind of car a loaner has to be, or are you just guaranteed a loaner?

You wanted/expected a new 5 series as a loaner?? lol....a loaner is just that, you'll get your car fixed and be back in that. You're being a little melodramatic on a car repair I think.

How dare they!

Is this for real? You can't drive the available (gasp) VOLKSWAGON for one or two days max while they fix a simple cat job on a car? This scenario is as far from a Bait and Switch tactic as I am from the moon right now.

i agree no B & S

if the agreement doesn't specify what loaner you get
then you don't get to be a princess and demand what car they give you

Did they really tell you that you were a second class customer?

I hate to be down on consumers but you are being unreasonable. This is not bait and switch. They are not keeping your BMW indefinitely and replacing it with a Volkswagon. Take the loaner and get your car fixed.

pro - i doubt it

it sounds more like he's assuming that they're calling him that because they dared told him "no"

more importantly the OP didn't even say if they had different car available.

but from the tone of voice of the complaint it sounds like that answer isn't good enough for him,
and that they have to make a better car available for him - even if there's not one there - because he's "entitled" to it.

Do you have any kind of contract or clause in your warranty that says your loaner car will be a BMW?

If not, you don't have a leg to stand on. They could hand you a rusty Ford Festiva and make you make do with that.
