Verizon Complaint - How Long Will Verizon Keep Harassing Me
PALO ALTO, CALIFORNIA -- My experience with Verizon Wireless, which began several YEARS ago, has been absolutely THE WORST I have ever experienced in my life.
TO begin with, when I added another person to my plan, they screwed up the billing three months running and three months running the two of us spent several hours on the phone and in the Verizon store trying to straighten it out. Each time we were assured it was fixed and each time it was NOT fixed. Finally, the last time the other person went to try and resolve it, the representative at Verizon insisted that the account be password protected. So he gave them a password with the understand that it would only affect his part of the account and not mine. And therefore did not tell me about it. Then when I tried to make changes to my account at Verizon, they absolutely refused to deal with me since I had no idea about the password EVEN THOUGH THE ACCOUNT WAS IN MY NAME. And unfortunately at that point the other person was out of the country and not reachable.
So I dropped Verizon and moved over to AT&T and of course Verizon has been trying to ding me for the $175.00 early termination fee ever since. They have hired several different collection agencies and every single one of them has called me at work EVEN THOUGH I SPECIFIED THAT THEY WERE NOT TO DO SO. Verizon refused to negotiate despite their fault in causing all the problems and of course even when I offered to pay, they went ahead and reported it to the credit rating agencies and insisted that they could not remove it.
Even though it has been several years now since the issue came up (at least three or four years), I still occasionally get a surprise phone call AT WORK from a collection agency about this issue. And every time, I am told by the representative that they did not know I has asked that they not call at my place of work and further more, they have no idea of the history of the issue.
Any suggestions? Since Verizon has already done all the damage it can to my credit rating, the last remaining motive for giving them even a partial payment has been obliterated.
At this point, they are obviously harassing me and I don't really expect it to go away any time soon. The one satifactory element in all this has been the number of people among my friends, family and co-workers who have switched from Verizon after hearing the story. So it has certainly cost Verizon much much more than the original $175.00 termination fee and as long as they continue to harass me, I will continue to make sure everyone I know knows about how Verizon Wireless mistreats its customers.
