Circuit City Compliment - Defective Product, Tried to Return a Week Later
GRANDVILLE, MICHIGAN -- I purchased an Audiovox Verizon phone with activation at Circuit City. The phone was defective from “day one.” I put the phone on vibrate. However, it switched to “no alert” mode all of a sudden one day. I put it back on vibrate mode. Then, a couple days later, it put itself on ring mode. Again, I put it back on vibrate. The phone’s speakerphone is useless. You cannot hear the other party even on its highest volume. The reception quality of the phone isn’t the greatest. I got dropped calls all the time. I believe the problem to be with the phone. My roommate’s Verizon phone hardly ever drops calls.
All I wanted was to exchange it for a different brand phone with Verizon. However, Circuit City refused, because I used the mail-in rebate. This is quite a scam the store has going. Basically, what the store is saying is that customers can buy their products and use the advertised mail-in rebate, thereby forfeiting any right to return it if defective. Or, customers can purchase a product, not use the rebate, and be able to return it if defective.
