Digital Services Competition Informative - Where is the competition?

Review by ChuhBaca on 2010-01-29
I get really frustrated with the local providers of internet, TV, and phone services. Unfortunately, as far as this goes, I can choose Qwest or Comcast.

I can go ala carte with phone service and cable, but that doesn't really make much difference, because then they just jack up the price of your internet. It really seems that they have figured out how to wear the consumer down to a "why bother" state of mind when it comes to shopping around.

Also, they don't really seem to care of you go from Qwest to Comcast, or vice-versa, because someone else will switch the other way. There is a revolving door between the 2.

So, I ask; where is the competition? I have found Magic Jack for phone. Now, I need to find a non-Qwest-or-Comcast high speed ISP. Are they out there? We need competition in this market, especially with the switch to HD, that left many people with the decision of either purchasing equipment (which works very poorly for many people) or subscribing to cable or satellite.

Hey, we all feel the same way. I live in Myrtle Beach. The only digital cable provider is Time Warner. Either that, or go with a dish like DirecTV, and from all the reviews on DirecTV, thats the last company I would want to do business with. Thats the same way with internet. There is no competition. I wish we could get verizon Fios here because I would switch to them in a heartbeat...and maybe get some competition for business. As far as a telephone, I use my cell phone as my home phone. I havn't had a landline phone in over 5 years.
