Diamonds International Complaint - Overcharge with no refunds. - Purchase of Watch

Purchase of Watch - Complaint
Review by thekellys1 on 2010-01-29
NASSAU, BAHAMAS -- I purchased a watch for my husband at the Diamond's International in Nassau, Bahamas. I was not looking for an expensive piece and found an ESQ watch (by Movado) for $195.00. The sales manager offered me the watch for $130.00. Upon getting home and doing an internet search for the watch, I discovered the watch listed on several sites for $90.00. After contacting DI, they said they will not price match...they will only give me a better price if the price listed on their own website is cheaper than what I spent. Unfortunately, the watch I purchase isn't even offered through their website. After many e-mails and no compensation for my troubles, DI asked for my personal information (address, phone number, etc.). DI wanted this information in case I ever contact them again. I told DI that I would not share my personal information with them since I feel "taken" by my shopping experience with them...and I don't plan to purchase from them ever again. From reading the other messages on this site, it appears there's a theme - - DI is not to be trusted and rips off their customers. While this was just a small purchase, they'll never receive any more of my business. Buyer beware!

I'm not sure that I understand why it is the companies fault that you did not do your price comparsions before you made your purchase.

Even if the company agreed to price match most will only do so if you bring the ad in at the time you make your purchase. Most companies will only refund the difference in price if they place the item on sale within so many days.

Are you serious with this? They are allowed to charge any price they want for an item as long as someone buys it. You failed to research what a fair price for that item is and you have no one to blame but yourself. You don't go to a movie theater and ask them to price match to a grocery store do you? You can get almost anything cheaper ONLINE, but you bought in store and that comes with a premium. Also, you bought it in a foreign country, how do you know they didn't have to pay import taxes or other regulations on it that jack the price up?

Buyer beware, its that simple. You should of done your research, before purchasing the watch, and not after.

You also bought in the Bahamas. Why is this a complaint?
