MANCHESTER, CONNECTICUT -- On Weds.(1-26-10) I called the Cable Co. to inquired about the HD-TV for free that the announced on TV. The representative I spoke to, pulled my acct. and told me "that the only step that I had to take was to take my boxes to the local office and they will upgrade the boxes for FREE. The next day(1-27-10) I went to the office with 3 boxes, after I got there Walter, one of their reps. told me that in order for me to upgrade the boxes I had to put a deposit of $275.00 per box. I requested to talk to a supervisor, which he proceed to call on the phone. She reinstated the same statement that he had told me, she even say that it was company policy if I wanted to upgrade to HD. In other words they don't give anything for FREE. They just want OUR money, to bad that we don't have any other choice of Cable Co. When I got home I called the Consumer Protection Office, I was advised that in the State of CT. the Cable Co. is not regulated by any agency. They are allowed to request deposits or increases in any of their services.
