Verizon Wireless Complaint - Verizon Wireless

Complaint
Review by psydoc63 on 2004-09-19
AVON, CONNECTICUT -- As a consumer from your state, I felt it was my responsibility to bring to your attention the following incident.

I will give a short account of my problems, which have been rather lengthy. My wife purchased service from Verizon last year. At the time, she specified that she needed service northwest of avon, as she'd begun working in Winsted. Also she bought service for my daughter, who also had been requiring service northwest of Avon, on her way to Torrington (work at the Warner theater). She was told that Verizon utilized a service tower through an agreement with another cellular provider, and that covered that area. Indeed, the coverage existed until Verizon lost that contract, at which time, the two Verizon phones becanme essenbtially inoperable 75% of the time. A call was placed to Verizon, who agreed to allow termination of the plan without the penalty.

From that point on, we have had nothing but problems. They have never discontinued service on one phone. They billed us for monthly charges, and then for late fees. After many calls Verizon agreed that they'd made a mistake by not cancelling the service at our first call. However, once the service was discontinued, they began charging us early termination fees. We have disputed these bills, and spent endless hours on the phone with a wide variety of individuals. They have sent our bill to collections, though their consumer service division states they have not.

I am not sure of anything that I can do to remedy it. Please offer any suggestions.

As a resolution, I would like the following:

Follow-up with myself &/or Verizon to end our services without early termination charges.

Please contact me if you need more details regarding this incident.

About 7 years now I've been with Sprint and very few problems. I think I had some issues in the beginning, but since then, service has been very good.

Even Sprint has problems. Go with prepaid.
