Lowe's Complaint - Poor Goodwill
STUART, FLORIDA -- I just returned home(9/15/04)from evacuating for Hurricane Frances. I live in Martin County where the eye came ashore. There has been no power in my neighborhood for nearly 2 weeks and several homes have roof damage including mine. I recieved my Lowe's bill on 9/18/04 which includes a late fee because I missed my payment due on (9/10/04),during the evacuation. I am just surprised that a company that advertises how they try to help the communities and will definately have major monetary gain from this disaster, charges late payments to the people in a major disaster area, during such a tramatic time. It seems to me that they want to appear to help the community but all they really are after is money. It is like that extra kick when people are down. It isn't so much even the money part of it, but the extra mark against the credit reports too. It seems to me if they really wanted to help people, especially their loyal customers, they would would not ask for late charges from people in a disaster area, at least give them time to get back to what is left of their homes and lives so they can make their payments to one of the companies that will reap the most from such a disaster. Just wanted to vent my thoughts on what I feel is very poor goodwill by Lowe's.
