Conseco Finance Corporation Complaint - Neglectful - financed installation of windows

financed installation of windows - Complaint
Review by rockie on 2010-01-31
ST. PAUL, MICHIGAN -- I am writing a negative review for this company because my husband and I purchased new windows for a house we owned in orange county (1998-2004) and the finance company was conseco. we did fall behind in payments but in 9/04 we were able to sell the home. in selling the home before anything was finalized on the sale the conseco finance corp debt had to be satisfied in full. the debt was 8,832.00 that debt was paid in full and I have the paperwork to prove it. conseco never tried to take the debt off of my credit report which is listed as a judgment. this is now 2010 and it has not been done. they are the worst!!!!!!!!!!

Paying off a past due debt does not entitle you to have it removed from your credit report, as long as the information reported is correct. It sounds like your report shows a past due balance with a judgment, which sounds correct based on the information you provided. Kudos for paying your debt, but it will not be removed.

"conseco never tried to take the debt off of my credit report"

They can't take it off your report.

I was in collections for an apartment I owed money to. Found the information off my credit report, paid them, but it's still a negative ding on my report. The status is listed as paid, but it will continue to be on my report until it falls off in another year or two. I think, correct me if I'm wrong, but negative postings fall off after 7 years... I believe. Or something like that.

bearkakitten, Yes, they fall off after seven years. Also, whoever is reporting the negative line could chose to delete it although most don't and it's frowned upon by the credit bureaus. About ten years ago my mother owned several apartment complexes. She would report renters who skipped out owing money to the credit bureaus as a collections. If the renter subsequently paid back what was owed including accumulated interest she would delete the credit line. So I know for a fact that it can be done.
