Big Lots Complaint - No Luck Returning Obviously Defective Merch if No Receipt
PLANO, TEXAS -- I purchased two DVD/CD Storage Towers from my local Big Lots and made the BIG mistake of not immediately opening them and assembling. When I did get around to doing so I no longer could find my receipt. Lo and behold both items were egregiously defective - the pre-drilled holes in the base did not remotely line up with the two holes in the adjoining piece; these pieces were to create the whole structure basis! It was this way on both sides of the bases on BOTH of the towers I bought. Also it is clearly marked on the box NOT to use an electric drill on the item so I had no recourse of drilling a hole myself. I called Big Lots to see what they could do for me because these items are heavy and I'd rather not make a trip if I was just going to get turned away. But, that's what I had to do. They are a town without pity if you do not have the receipt. And very rude in their policy even though it was VERY evident that the items were defective. There was a Big Lots sticker with UPC and price and it would have been very easy to scan it and at the very least give me a store credit. They don't give STORE CREDITS PERIOD. If they don't have another one of your item and you don't have a receipt, you are OUT OF LUCK.
