Luxor Hotel Informative - Not what we thought

Review by pamlsam on 2010-01-31
We came to Vegas for the first time in almost 20 years to celebrate our 20 year anniversary. The first and worst thing we found here was the $12.95/day service for internet and water etc. Of course no pool, its gorgeous but too cold for them I guess. Then we were harassed at every turn by people trying to get us to go to the Grandview. WE DID it. Give us a pin so that they don't bug us every time we come into the casino. Thirdly and lastly. THE SMOKE.........NOT ONLY CIGARETTES BUT CIGARS. They were everywhere and quite bad. I don't get why these casinos can't spend more money on ventilation.

Just blah........too far away from everything else too.

You went to Vegas. You got Vegas.

ditto to everyone else. Its Vegas. Every casino allows their patrons to smoke. If you don't like it, don't go. I used to frequent Atlantic City and Vegas a lot. Every casino hotel charges to use internet access. They expect you to go there to gamble, not play on the internet, so they will nickel and dime you for everything. Have you also noticed there only like 25-30 channels to choose from on their television? And half of them are spanish speaking, and the other half are mostly news stations? They purposely do that to bore you to death so you go gamble more. It's the way they work.

How hard is for you to say "No thanks" to the Grandview people. i have stayed at Luxor many times and have no idea what you are talking about. And it has been a while since you have been to Vegas, it is the last hold out for Cig/cigar smoking inside. What were you looking for in Vegas? Pool in January? No smoke in casino? Too far from everything? Stay home next time.

The monorail station is right across the street at the MGM Grand. Pick it up and go anywhere on the strip. Not hard, and not expensive.

Vegas rocks.

man i love vegas - cant wait to go again in April!! I've never stayed, not gampled, at Luxor so cannot comment on its facilities. I've stayed at MGM (good) but now always stay at Venetian (awesome!) - you get what you pay for when you go to vegas. All casinos allow smoking so you're never going to be rid of that. However, the higher end casinos such as venetian, caesats, bellagio, wynn, have much much better ventilation. The older casinos just smell like cigarettes and vanilla (flamingo...blech)
Dont let Luxor sour you on the vegas experience - take the tram to wynn and walk the strip back to luxor and check out all the properties on your way back - its a fun day trip all for free! just dont come here and complain about the hispanics flipping 'girl cards' at you as you walk down the strip :)
