Transworld Systems Complaint - Rudest person ever

Complaint
Review by veryfriggenangry on 2010-02-01
I just recived a phone call from transworld systems from a blocked number. My little brother answered the phone and said that some guy wanted to talk to me.. when I picked up the phone he told me he was calling from transworld systems attempting to collect a debt, but did not tell me his name. I told the guy yes I was aware and that I didn't have a job right now because of the current economy in the town that I live in in New York. the man procided to tell me I was a liar and that was bullsh*t and that oh its all fun and games now until they show up at my house (and named my address)then will I be laughing? and I simply replied um well I guess id be forced to pay you, which he replied people like you sicken me and said I had 5 days to pay it or he would take other actions and b4 I could ask how to pay I was hung up on. I have never been so frusterated in my life and called them back and explained how I was spoken to and they told me that that was very innaproprate and that h e was very sorry for that

Hopefully I'll never have any dealings with Transworld Systems.

Don't these people realize that talking to people like that is not helping the situation. The OP lost her job in this crappy economy and this guy needs to make her life more miserable?
I am sure that if he spoke to her with a little respect, they could have come to a mutual agreement.
I had a collection agent do this to me once and I told her to go F herself and hung up the phone. Talking to me like I am a piece of trash gets you no where.

You'll pay your debt, but only if they come to your house to collect it?

I have dealt with these people, and I have never had reason to have collections called on me. My home phone number was apparently the old number of someone named Michelle who didn't pay her bills. I was sworn at, called names, my voice mail was filled nearly every day, and I was threatened. I told them I wasn't her, I was called a "f==== liar," and finally told them to call me at work. The number I gave them was my lawyer's. They didn't call me again. It should be illegal for them to be nasty like the person the OP describes.

Been there sherdy, there needs to be some sort of wrong number law. Why should I be harassed for someone elses debts?

Every once in awhile we get debt collection calls for a family member. If the collector is sincere and professional the call ends when I inform them that the person doesn't live here and that I refuse to provide anymore information. I call those the boring calls.

Now the fun calls are the amateur incompetent collectors who resort to bully tactics for whatever reason. My I do enjoy those people. If I'm not busy at the moment I like to see how long I can keep on the line before they hang up on me. I sometimes do this by asking them if they've been washed in the blood of the lamb then start quoting scripture to them. Sometimes I just go overdrive active listening by parroting everything back to them and sometimes I just start speaking in tongues. It's really quite fun to toy with some of these collectors. Overall my main strategy is to always be in control of the conversation. That just drives the bad collector over the line where you can hear their blood pressure rising.

Anything can be fun with the proper attitude. It's all about *your* perspective.

First of all...he was violating the FDCPA by not IDing himself by name (Proper ID). Second, he violated the FDCPA with his comment about coming to your house in a threatening way. Third, he was in violation of the FDCPA if he called you a liar. Fourth, he was in violation of the FDCPA when he hung up on you without properly ending the call. I'm not sure what further actions he was talking about, but if he says they are or will sue you or garnish your wages, without the intent of doing so then he was in violation of the FDCPA once again.

also the way he said he'd be stopping by your house sounded rather ominous.

i don't suppose he can call the police about the threatening call can he?

Stew, that's even better that what I did, LOL!!!

All I have to say to the OP is that is their job. They try to threaten you and scare you into paying. Are they really going to show up at your door? I highly doubt it. You should have told him that you would love to have him over for coffee and tea...and to meet your rotweiler named CUJO. Ive had similar calls when I was in financia troubles. Some of those collectors can be brutal. Next time just hang up on them.

I never get any of those calls...and I'd know exactly how to handle them and their violations.

I disagree that it's their job to be nasty. The person on the other end should be armed with a list of consequences, not calling people liars or cussing at them. I was always nice, until the one guy said, "I know this is you Michelle." I blew up, then. It was a horrible five months of this bullcrap. Along with the lawyer call, I changed my number. It stopped her calls, but I got others. Now, I don't have a home phone. I don't get any of these calls anymore.
