Lakeland Toyota Complaint - Screwed - Test Drive

Review by jaded1 on 2010-02-03
LAKELAND, FLORIDA -- Took my truck to trade in on a family size vehicle. Ive hand this truck for 4 years and have had no major mechanical problems. The sales manager [snip] took my truck to test it and brought it back claiming my 4 wheel drive was not engaging. We were immediately suspicious because it was working when we took it in. [snip] then said he could no longer help us and was very un-concerned with "our" problem. We told him we were gonna file a complaint ad his response was "ok" as he stood there eating a doughnut and smiling. I ask you, where is the customer service from yester-year? Do businesses just put the bottom line above everything else? We will never return to this business for anything! We have had a negative experience at this dealership before; we also have a family member that had a horrible experience as well.

There is a lot of room for employee education at this dealership. I would highly recommend that anyone considering buying or servicing a vehicle should go somewhere else!

Did your truck drive ok when you left the dealership? How often do you use the four-wheel drive feature?

Not sure how you were screwed here. The manager said the 4 wheel drive was not working, and stopped dealing with you. Maybe I am wrong, but I do not see how this cost you any money. If you do not believe him, take it somewhere else.

So-you had checked/used 4X4 immediately before bringing the car in? And then it did not work for him, but worked for you before you left the lot? If that was the case, than you have a valid complaint-not that they are going to do anything about it. If they don't want the trade, they don't have to take it even if it is a flawless vehicle.

Yeah Im confused here. So if the 4X4 wasnt working, how is it the dealership's fault? Are you trying to say that the dealer broke your 4X4 during the test drive? If so, HOW? Did you use the 4X4 right before you brought it to the dealership? If they don't want to purchase the vehicle, they dont have to.

If a dealer wanted to test drive my vehicle, I would have made sure I was with him during the test drive. Especially if I was the one still covering the vehicle with MY insurance still.
