DirecTV Inc Complaint - Direct TV "A Nightmare"
I was a customer of Direct TV for 6 months bundled with AT&T for telephone and internet. The total was to be $99.00 per month for the 3 services.
My bill averaged $150 for the 3 services. I was on the phone 2-3 days each month with both Direct and AT&T over my bill when they did adjust it for one month it would be too high again the next month. In June Direct informed me they did not get my June payment and gave me a certain length of time to pay or they would disconnect my service. I paid the June bill with a money order and sent them copies of the money order Direct said they did not get the copies even though I mailed it twice. I faxed them copies twice. Direct said they did not get the faxes. I cancelled the service Oct 2009. My credit card was charged $468 for early cancellation fees after I had requested they not do this. Direct also tried to charge $480 for the boxes I returned to them saying they did not get the boxes. I called FedEx amd fed ex called and got the boxes taken care of. I wrote the BBB and FTC and complained about Direct and my credit card. I called and disputed the amount with the credit card so they had to reverse the charges pending the outcome. My credit card gave Direct till Dec 27 to respond before putting the charges back on my account. I called and cancelled my credit card Dec 26 and told credit card I would not be responsible for any charges applied after cancellation of the card. Bottom line is if Direct has your credit card or your bank account numbers you must cancel whichever they have on file before you cancel your account with Direct TV otherwise they will charge your account for early cancellation fees and also, beware of upgrading your services this adds more time to your contract
