Holland America Cruises Complaint - Sick and sicker - virus

FLORIDA -- Last April 10 my wifes birthday we sailed on holland America 10 day cruise out of fort canveral and allthough our outside room was shaby dirty rug stained drape and caulking all around the port hole we felt we could over look the apearence as we spent most of the time out of the room. But on the 7 day when we went to super our waiter was a ship officer and we were told some of the crew haD BECOME SICK. On the buffet the food was being served by crew and officers as well and it seems so many of the passengers were down as well. I became violenty sick and spent the rest of the days in the toilet not able to eat or get out of bed. Needless to say my wife eventually got sick as well. When I wrote to the line I was told mi had gotten the scars virus and they were sorry but no refund or any discount for a another cruise. Thanks but no thanks I wouldn't book or recommend this line to any one. We rae booked again on Princess which is much cleaner and better in every respect. We have cruised with Carnival as well but never had any problems. I think HOLLAND America shoud rethink their policy trowars future cruise passengers befor they sink down as well.

I think he means SARS...but it seems to be rather reasonable that a simple cold or flu can contaminate an entire ship being that it is a contained space and there is much interaction with people. And, I can't see how any of the crew could possibly call in sick...

Guests have to be taken care of, otherwise there would be complaints about that too. Some people simply do not have the luxury of NOT working while they are sick. I don't really know what they can or will do for you.

Why wait nearly a year? And I believe if this had been a SARS contamination, it would have been on the news...
