Dish Network Complaint - A REAL EXPENSIVE PHONE CALL
ARKANSAS -- On the evening of 2/5, I noted that my DVR wasn't getting a satalite signal so the next morning, I called customer service for assistance. After running a series of tests with two techs, it was decided that a technician needed to come by. I was advised that I could pay $95 or $15 with a service agreement at would be billed to my account monthly. I of course took to smaller amount. Very shortly after, my son advised that my dish may just need to be adjusted a small amount and that may fix the problem. AND IT DID. When I called Dish back to cancel the service call and service plan, I was advised that the cancellation fee would be $25. I went through several workers trying to get the understanding on how I could have abused the service since I'd only had it LESS THEN AN HOUR. I was passed around to person after person, all with the same very rehersed statement: "This is a valid fee, and we can not remove it". I even asked for a credit of $25 of the non-removeable fee. No way Jose. "This a new policy that we just can't oppose". After speaking with two supervisors and two regular folks, I asked to speak with a manager. I advised that I also worked in customer service and there would have been NO WAY, we would have allowed an HOUR worth of service to escalate to the degree that it did over $25. Don't get me wrong, I would have had no problem paying $25 for an hour's worth of phone service, but believe me when I say it wouldn't have been of the technical type.
