Helical 26w Bulbs Complaint - Poor results - Helical 26 W Bulbs

Review by jimmm on 2010-02-08
We have been replacing our bulbs with the new fluorescent bulbs that are supposed to last for 5 to 8 years, and they do not last 3 months!

We paid more for these bulbs than the regular bulbs and still get this kind of luck. They should be taken off the market,,, almost criminal act!

these new flourescent bulbs are TERRIBLE! Very dim, very 'dead' light... do what I'm doing and start stocking up on incandescent bulbs - they are an endangered species and wont be around too much longer

Do you get a lot of power 'drops' where you live? Are you using dimmer switches? I suspect the problem lies not with the CFLs but with the quality of your power supply. I have noticed many CFLs take a bit of warm-up time to reach full brightness, but I have tested them against incandescents and when they reach full brightness, they do match the light output as listed on the package. What do you mean by 'dead' light? Sorry, inat, but the CFLs do what they claim, they save you money on your electric bill. I am just waiting for the price on LEDs to come down, so I can save even more.

Good comment Starlord. I've been using CFLs for over five years and I still have yet to have one burn out. Perhaps I'm just lucky. I'm also satisfied with the illumination. Overall I'm a happy CFL camper.

dead light is probably not hte best description - it is more 'cold' as in having a lower wavelength (400-700nm) whereas the incandescent has more 'warm' light > 700nm. I use CFLs in non-living areas like garage, closets, etc.

hmm.
i have some of the new bulbs that are suppose to last longer.
mine haven't broken yet, been using them oh... 9 months to a year now?

however i have noticed that they do take a few minutes to warm up to full potential
