TracFone Informative - Getting Excellent Service And Value - Tracfone Cellular

Tracfone Cellular
Review by bookworm69 on 2010-02-08
I've been a satisfied Tracfone customer for about 10 years because it works everywhere I've been in the US, including really out of the way locations (Pine Ridge, SD, for example). It will use any available cell network. I can't imagine switching anytime soon.

Tracfone is not the best value for heavy cell users, but it's ideal for those who travel a lot and use the cell phone moderately.

Here are some suggestions if you're having problems:
can't get a signal - check to see if you're setup for your local area only. Tracfone walked me through unlocking it in Orlando (I called on a land line with my cell phone on) and I've had no problems since.

Trouble with customer service - yes, Tracfone outsources its customer service to east Asia, but if you speak slowly and don't interrupt their replies, I find the reps to be far superior to any other company's reps here or elsewhere. They will repeat what you say to make sure they've understood you and then will slowly and carefully walk you through any fixes.

Replacements: Over the years I've had to have warranty replacements on one phone and two batteries. In both cases I called the 800 number, tried their suggestions once and when I had to call back, they immediately authorized the replacements. Again, speaking slowly and listening to their replies seems to prevent problems.

Overall, I've had better luck using the 800 number than trying to fix something online.

I have been a Tracfone customer for almost nine years and I second the author of this post. If I were one of the big guys in the field, I would be most embarassed to know that Tracfone works where my phones won't. I now have the Motorola W376g that I got from WalMart for under $30 (Now under $20), and it has an FM receiver, is Bluetooth compatible and has a camera. All that, plus double minutes for as long as I have the phone. Let's see those places that are bragging about dropping their price to $70 per month match Tracfone. They can't do it, or won't.
