Ticketmaster Informative - Throttling by Ticketmaster?

Review by goduke on 2010-02-12
So I'm kind of curious if anyone else has seen this happen.

I was buying tickets for the Michael Bubbly show. Tix go on sale at 10a, and I'm trying like furor to get in, and keep hitting the "no tickets" available screen. People I was in concert with trying to get tickets were intermittently getting in to buy tickets, as if TM was only letting 1 out of every 100 hits (making that ratio up) in, or some other weird scenario. Anyone else see this?

Were you selecting a specific price point for the tickets you wanted to purchase, or a specific area on the seating chart? If so that may be why there are no tickets available. That is the only time I've received a no tickets available message.

TM is a rip off. Everytime we have ever tried to buy tickets via TM we always get that screen. BUT when you go to the broker sites they have all the tickets. One day we were at TM when they opened and it was the same thing. It's as if they only have a certain amount of seats they can sell and they sell out fast.

Wasn't for a specific seat. Best available.

Yoke, I absolutely agree. I hate TM with a passion. I believe firmly they are in bed with the scalpers and release tix to them early.

goduke, agree 100%. It is ironic that no seats are available, but when you go to the scalper sites they have all the seats.

Your best bet is to call Ticketmaster to get your seats rather than doing it online on the on-sale date.

Ticketmaster does give all customers a fair chance at getting seating and has many means in place to prevent people from buying up all of the tickets. Whether or not ticket sales are throttled on the on-sale date or not, I am not positive, but it would make sense so that everyone has a fair chance at tickets.

Michael Buble is a -very- popular event. Any time I have a customer calling for this event, it is always tough to get two seats together.

Like I said, try calling in to see if they are available. You might have an easier time.

As far as Ticketmaster "in bed with the scalpers" and other sites having tickets... Ticketmaster does not sell all of the tickets for one event. Keep that in mind.

I was at ticketmaster and was still unable to get seats within minutes of a concert going on sale. I was the first person in line and the first person waited on and still could not get tickets. Called my daughter and asked her to look on the scalper sites and sure enough you could get tickets there.
