Ashley Furniture Complaint - Can't make the sale if they don't intice you to visit the store
BOLINGBROOK, ILLINOIS -- Okay, I'm in sales and I get it; if you don't walk through the door they can't SELL you the product in question. After spending time researching products on line and visiting a few stores, I thought I'd found what I wanted at a reasonable price BUT I chose to look on line one more time before shelling out about $700 on one item of furniture. While on the Ashley website I found a product quite similar to the one I thought I wanted but the Ashley sofa was several inches longer so I called them to inquire about the price. The pleasant young lady who answered the phone informed me they aren't allowed to give pricing over the phone. What?!? Time is money and gas is expensive - I'm not wasting either unless I know the price is in the range I want to pay. Pleasant Young Lady transferred me to her manager who re-explained their corporate policy again. When I suggested corporate may want to know that this policy is actually preventing potential buyers from walking in the door Mr. Policy told me he was sure corporate knew what they were doing when they set policy - I simply suggested he tell corporate this policy is slowing down their business and he wanted to engage in an argument? In this economy other businesses are stepping up their customer service efforts to gain business but Ashley is actually driving business away with their policies and the attitued of their onsite managers. Based on my conversation with the Bolingbrook store manager and on the other reviews I've read on line, I'll gladly spend my money elsewhere with the confidence these other companies have nothing to hide when it comes to their pricing policies.
