Hamptin inn in muskegon michigan Complaint - Customer service - rude desk personal

Review by navymomma on 2010-02-13
MUSKEGON, MICHIGAN -- We stayed at hamptin inn in muskegon Michigan on February 12th. we wanted a nice night vacation. could not wait to get in the hot tub. well when we checked in no one mentioned the hot tub was down or we would have gone to another hotel with a working hot tub. but we had 2 little guys with us and came down to the pool and low and behold no hot tube so my daughter in law went to find out what was up. they had closed it and painted it a week ago and said today was the day it would be up. well I came back a few hours later and still no hot tub. I would think that this would be a bad week end to be with out it as its valentine week end. when my daughter in law asked about it the girl at the desk was very rude and in a sarcastic tone said we can find you another hotel! why didn't they say anything when we checked in? I think they should have. we would have gone to another one but with two little guys it was just too much. the man at the desk came in and appoligized to us, we were in the pool room when he did. that was very nice but she had a bad attitude and should not be working at the front desk! the morning girl and the lady working the breakfast were very nice also. I think some one should give her an attitude adjustment. we stay in our home town (in hotels) at least 3 or 4 times a year just for mini vacations. but we won't stay there again. thank you. lucia fisher

Unless you asked about the hot tub at check-in, they aren't required to tell you it's down. I work at a hotel. Hot tubs, pools, internet, and other free things like them are just extra perks thrown in to try to attract business. If one of them should happen to be unavailable for any reason, they have no obligation to tell you unless you ask about it because you're not paying for those things when you stay, you're paying for the room.

I could understand if it's a whirlpool in the room, but you were honestly excited about the hot tub all patrons are allowed to use? What if another couple was hogging it? Would you be angry at them? That sounds like you wanted it all to yourself but it's for everyone. If you wanted a hot tub you needed to book a room with one.

Oh and also you weren't there when your DIL asked...how do YOU know she was as rude as DIL says? She can't possibly be exaggerating one bit can she? Unless you were there you shouldn't include it.

i'm thinking... hot tub on valentine's day weekend?

i'm betting it would be VERY crowded.
and possibly... um... well... tainted by DNA by the time the weekend's over.

but seriously they wouldn't know the hot tub was the only reason you were there
they're hotel employees not mind readers
