Home Depot Complaint - Poor Customer Care Service
LEXINGTON, NORTH CAROLINA -- I purchased a pressure washer from Home Depot approx 4 months ago and had less than 8 hours of use on it before it broke. Customer service told me the 30 day replacement period had passed so I would have to send it out to an outsourced repair shop for diagnosis. Kind of crazy to have 30 day replacement when you consider a pressure washer my only have a couple hours of service in 30 days. I agreed and was upset at the response. I was told it would cost $453 to repair a $300 pressure washer!!!! The diagnosis was the engine locked up due to inadequate lubrication. The diagnosis is bologna. I am very knowledgeable on engines and know for a fact that the engine had proper oil levels before and after the breakdown - it was the first thing I checked after breaking. Besides, a grayish liquid leaked from pump area of the washer after breaking. I was told however the engine broke and not the pump. This feels like a scam if I ever came across one. First of all, the engine is a 6.5 hp briggs and stratton with less than 8 hours of service. I've had briggs engines all my life on various applicatoins and not once have I had an engine to lock up with plenty of oil in it. As a matter of fact, I'm fairly certain the problem is with the pump, where the lube was coming from and not the engine - especially since the pressure was intermittent before failure. To further drive home my feelings of a scam, I read another comment on this same site that is identical to my story, same washer, same time frame, and same diagnosis. Ridiculous, I'll never shop there again for the failure to relate to the customer's dissatisfaction with the service rendered and the checks and balances to insure the customer is taken care of. My frustration is the inability of the company to understand my situation - if me, the average home owner / DIYer, can pretty much identify the problem with the washer failure, then why can't customer service realize the outsourced repair company is full of bull. I'll buy another pressure washer at Lowes where I have always had great service...don't know what I was thinking before.
