Marriott International Complaint - Price Gouging During Evacuation of Ivan
I can only guess the huge amounts of money that the hotel business got when millions of people had to leave their homes because of the storms.
And they deserve to make a fair price off of their rooms. We traveled through Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and Arkansa looking for a room. Me, my elderly mother and my son. We found a room locator guide that gave coupons with their information the room was 55.00 for up to 4 poeple ... We were very relieved we had very little money and knew that we had a long road ahead not knowing if we would even have homes when the time came.
My mother called and reserved a room at the Fairfield in Tyler Texas and told the women that we had the coupon for the room. And was told that because of the storm they couldn't accept their own coupons.
EXCUSE ME ???? NO disclaimers are on these coupons that say " If you have to leave your home because you could get killed if you don't, we can't accept the coupon. We can only accept coupons from rich people that can afford vacations during non emergency situations."
3 times a year I save enough money to go to the Grand Hotel owned by Marriott, to have brunch and listen to the piano music, and really enjoy being there. ( 120.00 for 4 people). But they won't ever get another dime of my money, nor support of the groups that I send there, or my clients because of the way they treated people during the evacuations.
