Top Notch Towing Complaint - Worst Treatment/ Not professional.

Review by CULIACANSINALOA on 2010-02-16
VAN NUYS, CALIFORNIA -- Be careful with this company located at Van Nuys. The people working there are not professional at all. They have people spying near the courts and other places and they will just tow your car away even if you just parked for 5 minutes for an emergency situation. It gets even worst when you go to their junk yard because their facilities are dirty. They have bad manners and treat the people like animals. They made us walk half an hour to their location so that we could have a dispute and not be able to get our car until we brought what they wanted. We were there and a lot of people were complaining of the bad service and the way they treat the peole. Stay away from these people they are a bunch of thiefs!!! someone should have inspectors go and lock that place down or get new workers that have experience in towing. Everyone be careful and don't let these people take advantage of you.

If you park somewhere illegally, even it is only for 5 minutes, they have a right to tow you.
And yes, businesses who have a lot of people using their parking lot illegally do contract towing companies to keep an eye on the lot.
Also, what did they want you to bring in order to release the car to you? I can only assume that it was proper ID or vehicle information. They cannot just release the car to anyone who says the car is theirs.
Bottom line, don't park illegally and this type of thing will not happen to you. They make it hard and inconvenient so that people will think twice about parking illegally!!

The best way to "stay away from these people" is to park where you are supposed to park.

I have to agree with bunny and the sheriff. It is well-known that businesses have spotters watch their lots to prevent people parking illegally. Businesses have lots of a certain size, so they have the right to limit them to their customers. If it was posted, and you decided to park there anyway, then you will be towed. What is this about walking for half an hour to their location? They don't have taxis in Van Nuys? As for bringing what they wanted, try watching the series, 'Parking Wars.' They have to have positive proof that you have the proper documentation before they will return your car to you. If they just gave cars to whoever came up and said, "That car is mine," they would soon be out of business. They have the right to protect themselves agaisnt false claims.

I have to admit, though, I empathize with many of the people (especially when they show up 5 minutes before closing, and they have to jump through all kinds of hoops to get the right paperwork, etc.)
