Methodist Hospital Complaint - Attempts at bill collection

Review by 10489 on 2004-10-04
SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS -- I want everyone out there, especially those who reside in South Texas, to be aware of what a horrid team of unprofessional, inarticulate, pushy, rude, and uneducated people that Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, TX has working for them in their collections division! One week after severe heart surgery I was contacted at home by one of these ridiculously rude people who were so pushy about receiving payment for charges I had incurred not even one week prior at their facility! This woman who called was obviously so uneducated, and repeatedly asked for my debit card number, and said "can't we just pay $50.oo right now? I am acutely aware, being in the law enforcement profession, of telephone scams where people's credit card information is requested, then used for malicious purposes. This woman was crazy to think I would be so foolish, and to be asked to pay so soon after my surgery! To compound matters, Methodist Hospital had their team of bullies called my house about three times in the period of a week, sometimes late into the evening when three year old was just lying down to sleep! I understand they need to be paid, but not every American family can just whiip out a credit card or check for hundreds and thousands of dollars, especially when that person is still at home trying to recover from the procedures! It was ridiculous. Now they have forwarded my claim to a "collection agency." I say BRING IT ON. THEY WOULD HAVE GOTTEN PAID HAD THEY BEHAVED IN A PROFESSIONAL AND COURTEOUS WAY, AND THANKED ME FOR USING THEIR HORRENDOUS FACILITY FIRST AND FOREMOST! Beware of this hospital that bears the name of a religious sect who care for sick people. I have experienced more stress and heartache at their hands than my heart condition!

Just pay them what you can each month. They cannot deny any payment, no matter how small it is. Also, I don't believe that they can call before 8am and after 9pm. If they do, they're in violation. If you want really excellent advice go to www.creditwrench.com. They'll be more than happy to help you, for free!

Something does not make sense....Why were you not provided insurance coverage through your law enforcement agency? Also..it most often is protocol for hospitals to set up a payment plan for patients either at admission to the facility or at discharge from the facility. Did you have the opportunity to speak to a social worker while you were hospitalized ?

What is your bill total? Do you have caller id? If it’s not someone you know = don’t answer the phone. Also you have the option to hang up on them. Take the phone off the hook when you sleep. Tell them you can’t pay them right now and to send it to you in writing and not to call you anymore. Disconnect your phone and get a new unlisted unpublished number. Let them know if they send it to a collection agency and ruin your credit that you will have no choice but to declare bankruptcy.

This person speaks to no one, just b*tches. Pay your bills dead beat. The rest of us do. You’re the reason Hospital rates and insurance premiums go up for the rest of us. “being in the law enforcement profession” – really then what do you do or did do? You do know it’s illegal to insinuate that you are any type of law enforcement officer especially if you are not. Really all TEXAS law enforcement officers have insurance. Oh, wait your not employed – your not paying your bills right. Get unemployment – ooooppps the rest of us would have to pay for that too, so don’t. You even trash people who believe in religion. I guess you where never and will be happy, unless you get your own way. Something for nothing should be your motto.

Try bullying someone that might give a sh*t about what you think. I don't. I bet you are collecting unemployment. Stop harassing the hard working employed TEXANS. Remember the working taxpayers in TEXAS are paying for your deadbeat way.
