Bank of America Complaint - Extended overdraft fee scam
I too have been victim of Bank of America's new extended overdraft fees. Not only did they withhold deducting a purchase while I had ample money in my account to cover it. They waited till there was another charge coming in before deducting either so not only did I have 2 overdraft fees of 35.00 each on my account, less than a week later they added and extended overdraft fee of another 35.00. for a total of 105.00 in late fees with a grand total of -145.00. Today I was able to put 26.00 into my account and now my balance is -154.00. I am on public assistance and awaiting a decision on my disability for epilepsy and attention deficit disorder caused by multiple back to back head injuries and my mind is deteriorating and the base cause of this current fiasco. I am a single adult male only get 210.00/month in assistance from the state of New Jersey. I do not get another check till March first so all of my money has to go for these charges but may not be enough if they keep adding extended overdraft fees to my account since there is still eleven days till March first. I will never get done paying these fees as I do not have enough income to cover the monthly overdraft plus other maintenance fees they dream up. I take nearly 4000.00/month in medicine for my various health problems. That pitiful 210.00/month I get from the state has to go to pay for my rent, utilities, laundry, new clothing, toiletries etc and I could wind up on the streets if I cannot pay the rent.
I wrote to ask why they are doing this, but pretty much laughed at me and said OH WEll SUCKER..that's not our problem. They refuse to cancel my account in order to stop the financial bleeding this is causing me.
I have been a loyal customer of the Bank of America for 15 years, but now they have violated that trust and are basically raping their customers for as much as they can get away with. What happened to all that bail out money the president just handed out, who pocket is it lining?
Bank of America used to be a decent company to deal with, I don't know what happened to them. They have lost me as a customer as soon as and if I ever get this mess cleared up.
