American Trade Association Informative - Warning to the Public on Fake Insurance

Review by Starlord on 2010-02-18
Last night on the CBS News, they had a segment about American Trade Association (ATA) and their phony insurance. They are under investigation in 22 states, and have received Cease and Desist orders in 7 states, including Washington state. According to the information on CBS News, ATA has bilked many people out of money for claimed insurance premiums, and has not paid claims. The company told CBS News that they have paid every claim submitted, and are working with insurance regulators. Just a heads up to our friends in M3C. CBS states that insurance frauds are on the rise, due to the economy, and ATA is one of the very worst.

Starlord, thanks for the warning. I've only dealt with Blue Cross and State Farm and my claims have been paid promptly. I have heard of some insurance companies that seem initially to ignore the claims submitted by policyholders. Finally, when pressed there always seemed to be something wrong with the way the claim was received. Perhaps an i wasn't dotted or a t crossed, anything..it didn't matter the reason.

Once this went on for a while finally the policyholder reads the company has gone under and there he is. I might possibly pay more than I should for my coverage but thus far I've not worried myself with them closing their doors and me being stuck with an unpaid claim.
