Circuit City Complaint - DO NOT PURCHASE THE WARRANTY!
ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- DO NOT purchase any extended warranties for Circuit City laptops!!!!! While they say it covers the hardware, they refuse to replace hardware when it is bad and it turns into a software problem that they can then say they don't handle.
After the second time of calling tech support to see what could be done about the CD drive that was malfunctioning, instead of replacing the hardware which would have been an easy, inexpensive fix -- and which is what the warranty covers -- the tech had me do a "recovery" which wiped everything off my computer -- programs, files..... Then, Circuit City/Assurant refused to do anything about helping put programs/files back on! So, now I have a new laptop with nothing on it; had to pay to have Best Buy (not Circuit City's computer tech support as their tech support refused to help with this) to try to retrieve files; and now have to repurchase program files and try to re-load files. In addition, Circuit City/Assurant did not even offer to extend the warranty, etc. even though I've been dealing with this since last August, 2009, and it is now Feb, 2010!
Would NOT recommend this company to anyone for laptop/warranty!
