Itel Informative - Itel Monopoly On All Insurance Claims Testing
I feel that Itel is a monopoly and are owned by the insurance industry. Only a hand full of insurance carriers use them to test flooring materials so they don't have to pay out what the true value of the flooring product is. As stated on all of Itel's reports "these prices are only a benchmark" huh? Don't the insurance companies know what benchmark means? Apparently not, since they insist on using Itel's pricing in able to settle a claim. Maybe we need to instruct the people filing claims, that benchmark means you must use that price. This is total bologna and maybe home owners need to ask for an appraisal and handle it that way. Guess who would win. If a client has carpeting or any flooring that needs to be replaced and the insurance company wants to send it to Itel, I would suggest you immediately ask for an appraisal, which you are entitled too. This company rules the us on all flooring testing and is in with the insurance companies, so they can get away with this unruly tactic!!!!!!!!!!!
I suggest we all start complaining. I want my carpet replaced with the same product that came out, not something a company suggest I use and then sets a "benchmark" price on it. This is not the way to do business. You pay for home owners insurance and some never have a claim and then when you do, they try to stick it to you. Please use a good bbb rated contractor to put your home back in order. They will fight tooth and nail to make sure you are brought back to pre-loss condition. Do your homework on your insurance company in the state you live in. Check with the department of financial services in your state to check out the complaints against your insurance company, so you know right up front what you are dealing with!!!!!!!!!! Trust your contractor, not your insurance company
