Quest Complaint - Convience fee - dial up phone line

dial up phone line - Complaint
Review by tucsonchris on 2010-02-21
TUCSON, ARIZONA -- I just paid my phone bill. Quest has decided to charge my account a $1.00 monthly "convience fee." I wonder how much it will cost Quest to mail a bill to me? I would rather buy a postage stamp the accede to a manditory convience fee! Quest has driven its already shaky reputation to a new low. I hope the FCC investigates the reason and legality for this fee.

Here is how to avoid said fee:
When is a convenience fee charged, and how do I avoid it?
Answer
A convenience fee of $1.00 will be assessed when you make one-time payments online on the qwest.com web site, using electronic funds transfer or with a credit card. This charge for one-time payments will appear on your bank or credit card statement along with the payment amount.

Sorry, that last comment cost you your credibility. The FCC is not going to investigate something as frivilous as a 1.00 convenience fee, Qwest is free to charge them as they see fit.

On my Qwest bill, this change won't take effect until, March 15, 2010. I always pay by phone, which will be a "convenience" fee of $4.00. I don't care, its still more convenient for me to pay by phone. It's only $4.00, won't break the bank. I also do not think Qwest has a shaky reputation, we've always been very satisfied with their phone service and internet service. This is America, land of capitalism, anyone can make a buck if they so choose, including Qwest.

quest has 10.3 million access lines in 14 states. I was unable to find the number of captive quest customers. I e-mailed a complaint to quest today. Some 6-7 years ago, quest was planning on selling Arizona customer information to their business partners. Customers went crazy and quest was forced to stop that move. If quest customers exhibit the same outrage, the "courtesy fee" will be stopped. Lets get going! I'll post more complaint info. when I find it.

Chris, I understand you live in Tucson, but the name of the phone company is not Quest, it is Qwest. You keep making the same error. Try looking at your phone bill. We bought a Magic Jack when we were in Arizona and we now have our phone through Comcast in Washington. I was never so happy as the day I told Qwest to pull their lines out of our house. Qwest uses Arizona as a loss leader to provide better service to the other ten states. It has been that way since Mountain State Telephone and Telegraph sold all Arizona lines to Qwest.
