Spirit Airlines Complaint - Lied To By Company Rep In Ft Lauderdale Jan 3rd
I have recently had a problem with Spirit Airlines. My family of four and I were scheduled to come home from vacation on January 3, 2010. We were told the flight was overbooked which really did not affect me or my family because we had checked in about 3 hours before our flight. There was a man who needed to get home because he was scheduled for Chemotherapy. Spirit gate attendants were looking for 7 people to give up their seats. No one was coming up to give up their seats, so the gate attendant said they were willing to offer 3 free flights per person and also said anyone could use them (meaning they were transferable) and there were no restrictions and no black out dates. I am now finding out that the Spirit Employee lied about everyting just so people would give up their seats. The tickets can only be used for the person it was issued to and there are many restrictions. We did not use the free hotel room or food vouchers because the next available flight was the next night and we really needed to be home as early as possible, so we at our own expense rented a car and drove over to Fort Myers stayed at a hotel at our own expense and left earlier the next day. I just hung up the phone after being on hold for over 30 minutes with Julian Xavier a supervisor or so I was told. I was trying to use one voucher for my daughter.
This voucher is in her name but I was told that there are restrictions and there were no seats available for a vouchered customer. I have to tell you I am disgusted and feel like a fool for being lied to by a representative of Spirit Airlines.
