Virign America Complaint - Virgin America doesn't care

Complaint
Review by Norcal on 2010-02-23
I found Virgin's customer service for pre and post flights very disconcerting when trying to negotiate some flight changes. First of all they were unsympathetic about the date of my flight home being a month off ( March instead of Febuary), and the price it would cost to change that flight to a future date would have been more than the original ticket. 100 versus 41. But the new flight that I had to buy when I found out my filght was the wrong date cost me 160 compared to the 39 I originally spent. so I came out of the situation minus over 500 bucks and a future flight that I couldn't use or change. Virgin didn't care that I had planned on using them in the future for countless personal and business trips to SoCal from my Bay Area home or that I had just signed up for the Elevate program and a new Virgin credit card that I had planned to use a lot.

What did you realistically expect them to do for a $39 and $41 ticket? You would have been better off just re-booking the flights from scratch with the cheapest carrier and forfeiting the old tickets rather than pay rebooking fees.

They can sell tickets for $39 because they don't have a huge reservation staff sitting there to handle booking mistakes. I think you will find most airlines would have charged similar fees.

how did you manage to book tickets for the wrong month?

I thought that too pepper, but went against those voices.

It sounds like you made a mistake booking your flight and are now subject to the change fee and fare difference. How is that the airlines' fault?

" Virgin didn't care that I had planned on using them in the future for countless personal and business trips to SoCal from my Bay Area home."

This statement sounds like something anyone would make up to try and get out of paying for mistakes they made.

It is an airline. Their job is to get you from point A to point B when you desire to go. They are not mentalists who can read your mind. If you put February and mean March, it is your mistake, not theirs. They are not going to wail and tear their clothes because you screwed up. They have no obligation to mollycoddle you and fix your boo-boos.
