Nissan Complaint - Bad Service.... - 2008 Nissan Versa
I purchased a 2007 Nissan Versa Hatchback and Loved it! I decided after I had it a year to trade up to the SL Sedan 2008 purchased in Sept 07. I love my car... BUT, the company is crap! My AC went out last June. I had JUST hit 36k mi (I do a lot of driving). My husband and I took it to his mechanic to have him see what was wrong. He charged it up and all that... and then we found there was a HOLE in the condenser! The condenser has a sponge like protector on it to keep it and another part from rubbing one another. Well... the sponge was wayyyyy off to the side and looked brand spankin' new, while the condenser and this other part rubbed away until I was left with no AC, IN JUNE, IN A BLACK CAR, IN LAS VEGAS! So I called up Nissan, they said for 50 bucks they'd do a diagnostic on it and determine whether it would fall under manufacturer defect and a good faith repair. They didn't find that it did and wanted to charge me 800.00 to fix it.... INTERESTING that its not a defect, though there is a clearly visible hole in the condenser.... because the protection was misplaced! I made it clear to them that I now understand that after 36k (out of warranty) it is likely that your car may simply ruin itself and that it is perfectly normal... his reply was, "I'm sorry, it's out of warranty and has a lot of miles on it for a 2008." WOW... I now have to come out of pocket all of that money before another scorching 110 degree summer here in the desert... Gotta love them for "helping" me out... I love my car, but thanks to this experience, I'll NEVER buy a Nissan again.
