Citizens Bank Complaint - Bogus maintenance fee
WILLOW GROVE, PENNSYLVANIA -- Back in JULY 2009, Citizens Bank "unlinked" my auto loan (their error) to my checking account. This caused my balance to drop below the acceptable balance. Of course I was not aware of this internal error. My balance dropped below enough where I was charged a $20.00 maintenance Fee. I went to my branch (IN Willow Grove PA) - they advised me to call the 800 #. I called the 800# -they "relinked" my auto loan to my checking account -I told them I wanted the $20 refuneded - after about 45 minutes of telling the story and being passed around, they told me they would credit it as a "one time courtesy"as if they were doing me a favor. I told them to keep their courtesy. It was THEIR error and they need to REVERSE the fee. They told me for that I needed to go back to the branch. I have been to the branch (Willow Grove PA) about this at least 5 times and have names of all of the people there who have NOT helped me. On my last visit, they could not find my issue in the database and asked me to give all the dates/details again. I sent the representative a 3 page letter detailing everything (all over TWENTY DOLLARS). They have not even had the courtesy to contact me and of course the $20.00 has still not been refunded to my account. I have now spent the time to lodge a complaint with the PA Banking Commission. I have been trying to get my $20 back since SEPTEMBER 09 and it is now FEBRUARY 2010- I have never encountered such a lack of concern or such poor customer service in my life. There is NOBODY at that bank that cares about the customer. Once they get your account, you are ON YOUR OWN> I will NEVER do business with them again. I have wasted so much time trying to get a stinken $20 given back to me that they took. They will give you $50 to open a new account, yet they don't care ANYTHING about customer retention after that. CITIZENS BANK IS THE WORST BANK I HAVE EVER DEALT WITH IN MY LIFE.
